I'm Jane from Maine, your dog I can train!

My name is Jane McCarthy and I've had a love and passion for dogs my whole life. So much so, in 2007 I switched careers to become a certified canine training specialist and have loved every minute of it. After attending the Triple Crown Academy for Dog Training I started my first business, "The Proper Pooch" in Maine.

In 2019, I moved to the Villages, Florida and have continued my business as "Jane from Maine." The Villages is a wonderful place to live, especially if you’re a dog or a dog lover! Even so, some of the most common problems I’m asked to help with are dogs that pull on the leash and react to people, other dogs, golf carts, and even squirrels. 

We can’t control our environment and all the distractions around us but what I can do is help you learn how to control your dog so you can enjoy life in the Villages with him! Using positive reinforcement, I help you teach your dog how to listen to you and follow your commands so they become happy, confident, and well-mannered members of your family.

I work with dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes. And whether you’re starting out with a new puppy, adopted an adult dog, or have a rescue, I can help you with whatever training needs you may have.
